The Division of Adult Institution is recruiting to fill 2 (two) Medical Assistant 2 positions . This position is based out of Dodge Correctional Institution located in Waupun, WI

Position Summary

This position is responsible for clinic patient flow within the Health Services Unit Ambulatory settings and assisting Health Services staff by providing a broad range of health care services. This position functions as a member of the Health Services Unit's patient care team which includes registered nurses, nurse practitioners, clerical staff, and physicians. Medical Assistants may provide patient care under the supervision of a physician, PA, NP or registered nurse (RN) and perform delegated medical acts which must be directed, supervised and inspected by the supervising physician.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule/range (06-11) with a starting rate of pay of $19.92, plus excellent benefits. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A 12 month probationary period is required.

A Sign on bonus in the amount of $2,000 has been approved for the Medical Assistant 2 classification. The effective date is June 30, 2023. Job postings will be modified to include this information. Candidates with no prior State Service will be eligible for the bonus which is payable in two payments. The first is in the amount of $1,000 and is paid on the first paycheck following the date of hire; the second is payable after completion of the original probationary period.

    Job Details

    Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

    The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

    The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

    Remote work is not an option for these positions.

    Hours of work for position #308528 is 5:30 am - 2:00 pm.

    Hours of work for position #330910 is 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.

    Qualifications

    Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:
    • Performing clerical services in a medical setting (i.e. scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, navigating electronic medical records)
    • Performing patient care services (i.e. taking and recording vital signs and medical histories; preparing patients for examination; assisting with patient examinations, treatments, and procedures, able to accurately account for all tools and equipment.)
    • Maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
      In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have experience:
      • Certified in basic life support/cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
      • Experience with medical office room preparation (i.e. supply stocking, ordering, instrument processing, and sterilization of equipment)
      • Experience collecting blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens and preparing them for testing
